A History of Orthotic and Prosthetic Care
We first opened our doors and began serving those with prosthetic and orthotic needs in 1976 as the Johnstown Artificial Limb and Bracing Company, with John Roberts, Sr. and his son, Charles E. Roberts, as our founders.
They were joined by John Roberts, Jr. in 1983 after completing his Orthotic and Prosthetic education at Northwestern University. Our company already had a second facility in DuBois by this time, and in 1986 we opened a third location in Altoona.
At the beginning of 2000, John Roberts, Jr. formed John Roberts Enterprises, Inc. and began doing business as Allegheny Orthotics and Prosthetics at the Altoona and DuBois offices. The need for a third location to better accommodate our patients arose, resulting in the opening of our State College location in January 2003.
We have already provided orthotic and prosthetic devices to countless patients to help them navigate their lives comfortably and confidently, and we look forward to continuing this work into the future.
